Scan sepia tone pictures in color
If you have "color anomalies"
convert to grey scale
increase color depth
colorize again
Use de-screen filter for pictures scanned from newspapers and magazines. If you don't have a de-screen filter in your twain software, you can use a de-screen or moire pattern removal filter in your imaging software instead.
Use black construction paper behind newsprint or other thin papers to prevent the words on the other side of the page from bleeding through.
Leave border below picture for label. In your imaging software, you can type in identifying information such as names, dates, places, etc.
